versions of Safari, Chrome and Firefox browsers
block auto-playing media – videos or sound where you didn’t click on
something to play it. They’re trying to make the web less annoying
but unfortunately it means that you aren't hearing the greeting!
You can tell
your browser to allow Amy Lynn's Voice-Overs to play sound – below are
instructions for changing the settings for Amy Lynn's Voice-Overs (and not for
every site you visit, only this one).
Safari for iOS
– the browser on your iPhone or iPad – doesn’t have a setting to
allow this. We’re sorry about that.
Another thing that sometimes helps is now that you have visited other pages, the
greeting will play because Chrome will now trust this site. Simply click on the left
hand side of the menu where it says "Main".
Go to the URL
“about:preferences#privacy” or click “Preferences” then “Privacy &
Security” in the application menu:
“Exceptions” next to “Block websites from automatically playing
sound”, enter “http://www.amylynn.org” and “Allow”.
“Settings for This Website” in the application menu:
control-click on the URL:
Allow "Sound" from your internet browser
Paste chrome://settings/content/sound into your address bar.
Turn on Allow sites to play sound.
Then, next to “Allow,” click Add.
In the pop-up window, enter amylynn.org
Go to amylynn.org
On the left of a web page address, click the lock Lock.
Click Show connection details and then.
Click More Information.
Click the Permissions tab.
Under “Autoplay,” uncheck the box next to “Use Default.”
Click Allow Audio and Video.
In the top left, click Safari and then Settings for this website.
Next to “Auto-Play,” choose Allow All Auto-Play.
